YA author readings at the Eden Mills Writers’ Festival
I guess Sunday, September 20th is a popular day for literary festivals in Ontario!
Earlier this week, I blogged about the 1st Annual Telling Tales Festival set to take place Sunday, September 20th in Rockton, Ontario. That same day, Eden Mills (near Guelph), Ontario will be hosting its popular Eden Mills Writers’ Festival. It too has an impressive lineup of YA authors, including:
- Lesley Livington, author of Wondrous Strange (Harper Collins).
- Deb Loughead and Jocelyn Shipley, editors of the short story collection, Cleavage (Sumach Press).
- Valerie Sherrard, author of the Shelby Belgarden Mysteries (she’s also scheduled to appear at the Telling Tales Festival).
On Monday, September 21st, the festival will host a series of writing workshops for high school students, one of which will be given by Edeet Ravel, author of the Pauline, BTW series.
You can also check out some fabulous adult writers, like Miriam Toews (I loved her latest book, The Flying Troutmans) and Ray Robertson, and children’s book writers, like Frieda Wishinsky and Cary Fagan.
Tickets are $10 at the gate, but advanced tickets can be purchased at a number of local bookstores for $8 (locations are posted on the Eden Mills Writers’ Festival website). Two free shuttle buses will run between Guelph and Eden Mills on the festival day.
