Vancouver highlight: Kidsbooks
I’ve been away for a few days so I haven’t been blogging much. My contract in Calgary ended August 21st, and I decided to take a trip out to Vancouver for a few days before heading home to Toronto. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the fabulous Vancouver Kidsbooks. In my opinion, this is a must-see if you’re in Vancouver.
I loved the window displays!
I ended up purchasing a few too many books. I left with an autographed copy of The Uninvited by Tim Wynne-Jones , Swim the Fly by Don Calame, The Official Vancouver 2010 Olympic Mascot Story Book, Marie-Louise Gay’s When Stella was Very, Very Small, and Library Lion in paperback. I like supporting independent bookstores. The books may cost a bit more than at the big box bookstores, but the terrific selection, knowledgeable staff, and overall awesome atmosphere are well worth the extra few bucks.
Lots of reading was accomplished during the journey. I somehow thought taking the bus from Calgary to Vancouver was a good idea, even though it takes 15 times longer than a flight would. I should have a short review or two to post in the next week or so. I am very close to having read all of the books on my summer reading list (with a few substitutions and additions).
