Countdown to Mockingjay

If you’re anything like me, you’re anxiously awaiting the release of Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a book.

Unlike the first two titles in the Hunger Games trilogy, no ARCs (advanced reading copies) of Mockingjay have been issued. That means everyone, media included, will have to wait until its August 24 lay down date to get their hands on a copy.

As the date approaches, the blogosphere  is buzzing with anticipation.

SLJ has a fascinating Q&A with author Suzanne Collins. It’s surprisingly informative considering that Collins was not allowed to talk much about the book.

What’s more, as of August 2nd, Scholastic has launched the official 13 District Blog Tour featuring several of the best YA book blogs around. Each stop on the tour will have an exclusive giveaway. (Unfortunately for me and my fellow Canadians, I think the giveaways are all U.S. only).

The tour kicked off today, with GalleySmith representing District 1. The complete list of participating blogs is available at the official Hunger Games Facebook page.

I think the blog tour is fabulous idea. What a great way to connect with readers and other bloggers! I’m looking forward to following it and hope it will introduce me to some more terrific YA book blogs.

The librarian in in me can’t help but wonder what libraries are doing to celebrate the release of MockingjayYouth Services Corner has some terrific Hunger Games party ideas inspired by libraries and bookstores.
